A DAI Perspective on Cooperating Knowledge-Based Systems

چکیده

Business operations, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, and design, can no longer be done in isolation, but must be done in a global context, i.e., as part of an enterprise. A characteristic of such enterprises is that their information systems are large and complex, and the information is in a variety of forms, locations, and computers. The information systems can be large in several senses: (1) they can be geographically distributed, (2) they can have many components, (3) they can have a huge content, both in the number of concepts and in the amount of data about each concept, and (4) they can have a broad scope, i.e., coverage of a major portion of a significant domain. Also, the components of the systems are typically distributed and heterogeneous. The topology of these systems is dynamic and their content is changing so rapidly that it is difficult for a user or an application program to obtain correct information, or for the enterprise to maintain consistent information.

Cooperation for DAI through Common-Sense Knowledge

The goal of the Antares Project at MCC is to develop methods that enable separately developed knowledge-based systems to cooperate in solving problems beyond the capabilities of any one of the knowledge-based systems. There have been many previous attempts to develop distributed systems of cooperating experts (see [8] for a comprehensive summary of these). For the most part, these attempts have...

Modifying a Conventional Grasping Control Approach for Undesired Slippage Control in Cooperating Manipulator Systems

There have been many researches on object grasping in cooperating systems assuming no object slippage and stable grasp and the control system is designed to keep the contact force inside the friction cone to prevent the slippage. However undesired slippage can occur due to environmental conditions and many other reasons. In this research, dynamic analysis and control synthesis of a cooperating ...

Connections, Communication and Collaboration in Healthcare’s Complex Adaptive Systems; Comment on “Using Complexity and Network Concepts to Inform Healthcare Knowledge Translation”

A more sophisticated understanding of the unpredictable, disorderly and unstable aspects of healthcare organisations is developing in the knowledge translation (KT) literature. In an article published in this journal, Kitson et al introduced a new model for KT in healthcare based on complexity theory. The Knowledge Translation Complexity Network Model (KTCNM) provides a fresh perspective by mak...

Multi-perspective Decision Support System for Hierarchical Bus Transportation Network Design‎: ‎Tehran Case Study

In this paper, a multi-perspective decision support system (MP-DSS)‎ ‎to design hierarchical public transportation network is developed‎. ‎Since this problem depends on different perspectives‎, ‎MP-DSS consists of two sub-systems with macro and micro sub-systems based on travel information‎, ‎land use and expert knowledge‎. ‎In the micro sub-system‎, ‎two sub-modules are developed considering o...

Transforming Standalone Expert Systems into a Community of Cooperating Agents

Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI) systems in which multiple problem solving agents cooperate to achieve a common objective is a rapidly emerging and promising technology. However, as yet, there have been relatively few reported cases of such systems being employed to tackle real-world problems in realistic domains. One of the reasons for this is that DAI researchers have given virtually...
